Keeper - Alan Gibbons

A talented young goalkeeper is hiding more than anyone realises.

New boy Shane Logan is loud, has a short temper and turns out to be a talented goalkeeper. In his first match for his new team, Shane delivers a star performance - but there is more happening off the pitch.

His dad, Mick, constantly shouts orders and insults from the sidelines, and Shane seems frightened of him. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear there is something Shane is struggling to talk about.

Keeper combines an engaging football story with fascinating facts about famous goalkeepers and the history of goalkeeping.

A thought-provoking football read for ages 9+ that explores goalkeeping, family challenges and finding the courage to speak up.
